  We've been trying to be customers of our local Mitre 10 hardware store for the past few months, since we moved here, but they're not making it easy to shop locally. Customer service is hit/miss, sometimes we get someone who is friendly and wants to help, other times we're made to feel as if we're hindering whatever else it is the staff member wants to do, to the point of rudeness. Just as well there's not much competition in this area, it's a captive (captured) market. We were made aware of the generally poor customer service attitude by several of our new neighbours and passersby so are not the only ones who find it lacking in this store.

  Can't understand the negative reviews! We have had the best, friendly, helpful service since we became a customer a month so again. They are also happy to take back and credit things without a question. I ended up with one whole sheet of plaster board over - they delivered everything to begin with and then happily came back and collected the extra sheet and gave me a full credit. Terrific local service. Buy local!
